Frequently Asked Questions

Common Threads is Zuri's clothing renewal initiative. We are excited to use Common Threads as a platform to give our preloved clothing another life.

Something not quite right? We accept returns within 15 days of receipt for all orders! To get your return started, log in to your customer account to submit a return request.

We recommend shipping your package using a carrier that can provide tracking information —Common Threads is not responsible for returns lost in transit. Customers are responsible for return shipping costs.

Our sizing guide can be found here and is based on the size of the garment, not the wearer. Please note, due to the handmade nature of our items, +/- ½ inch of variance can be expected.

If you're in between sizes, we recommend taking the smaller of the two! If you're looking for an easy rule of thumb, go for the size you'd normally wear at a store like the Gap!

Our long dresses are four inches longer than the standard length dresses from shoulder to hem. You can see a side-by-side comparison on a model here. (For reference, Paloma is about 5'4, and wearing the XS version of our dress.) And just in case, here is a link to our sizing guide!

You can use this nifty duty calculator! (Our dress HS code is 620442, and our shirt HS code is 620630.)

Common Threads is only available online!

In the US, we ship with USPS and UPS. We ship with USPS to Canada, UPS to the UK, Asia, and Africa (except Kenya), DHL to Australia and New Zealand, and DPD in the EU. If you have a preferred carrier, please let us know in the order notes section when you place your order!

Depending on where you’re located, delivery times may vary. We do our best to ship orders out 1-3 days after being placed and they take 3-5 days to be delivered (US domestic), and 5-10 days for international shipments.  For more information, please visit our shipping and returns page here!

In the washing machine! Wash on the regular cycle with cold water, and just hang to dry. (You can also dry-clean your dresses if you’d prefer; it won't damage them.)  As for ironing, it's a matter of personal preference--definitely not necessary, but it will add a crispness to the look. When it comes to shrinkage, your dress will not shrink if washed on a cool cycle and hung to dry. Our garments are pre-washed so they should not run, BUT the first time you launder your dress at home, we recommend washing it in the machine on its own or with similar colors and hanging it to dry. Depending on the print/textile, color runs in the first wash can occur, though this is much more common if the garments are allowed to sit wet for an extended period of time. Find more info on our care page, here!

At this time we can only accept clothing made by us!
